The French postal service is La Poste, and it offers several package and mailing options. It is easy to use, and there are several post offices across Paris, as well as mailboxes where you can drop off mail.

La Poste government run postal service is very similar to USPS in the US. Similar to USPS, it is typically a much slower service than compared to private companies such as DHL, UPS, and FedEx.

Is DHL Available in France?

DHL is available in France, and it is one of the best services to use for shipping anything between the United States and France. They offer options to ship as a private person or a business, and you can get a quote online which is helpful. They also offer tracking for international shipping.

How to Send a Postcard from Paris

If you are visiting Paris on vacation, sending a postcard home is a fun souvenir for yourself or family & friends. Plus, its a relatively cheap option and is quite easy to do.

First, find a postcard that you want to send home, write a fun message, and address it.

Next, you’ll want to bring it to one of the Paris post offices, which are called La Poste.

At the post office, you can use one of the self-service machines to purchase a stamp. If you don’t speak French, no worries as these machines have an English option.

Steps for Sending a Postcard from Paris

  • Select “Send Mail”
  • Weigh the postcard
  • Choose the country/destination that it is going to
  • Select mail service – First Class International works well and will arrive in about 15 days
