To be able to walk to many attractions, you’ll want to stay in the center of Paris. This is typically the arrondissements 1-8. However, the most walkable areas to stay in are the 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th.
Saint-Germain-des-Prés (6th Arrondissement)
Saint-Germain-des-Prés is one of the 4 quarters that make up the 6th arrondissement. This trendy neighborhood is my favorite area to stay in Paris because its incredibly beautiful, with lots of Parisian charm.
Saint-Germain is also very walkable to many of the main sites, filled with cute cafes & restaurants, and its a beautiful area near places like the Luxembourg Gardens.
Plus, Saint-Germain-des-Prés (and the entire 6th arrondissement) is considered one of the safest places to stay in Paris for visitors.
I’ve personally stayed in this area multiple times, and even when I was working in Paris my coworkers recommended this area for people to come visit.

It is also a good area to use the metro as it is close to the largest metro station in Paris, Châtelet-les Halles.

Le Marais and the 1st Arrondissement are also excellent choices if your priority is staying close to restaurants, shopping, and major sights.
